Popcorn is an integral part of watching a movie. We can eat them on various other occasions and in addition to salty, they can be prepared in another way - with caramel. Caramelized popcorn is irresistible and is a great alternative for those who like salty popcorn. But how do we make delicious caramelized popcorn?
You need about 5 cups of popcorn, 1/2 cup of sugar, 5-6 tbsp. of butter, 1 pinch of baking soda and a little vanilla extract, if desired. Preheat the oven to about 250°F (120°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Put the popcorn in a large bowl, which should be fireproof. Melt the butter in a pan.
Add the sugar and stir until it's mixed with the butter. The liquid should start boiling. Stir with a spatula so that the mixture does not stick. Remove the pan from the heat. In a separate bowl, mix the baking soda, vanilla and melted butter and put everything back onto the heated hob. Keep stirring until bubbles start to come out.
Stir until a smooth caramel is obtained. Slowly pour it over the popcorn and stir them, so that they're covered well everywhere. Pour the popcorn into the baking pan and bake them in the preheated oven until the caramel is well absorbed by the popcorn - about 1 hour.
