How To Freeze Spinach?

The beneficial properties of spinach are well known - it is rich in many vitamins, phosphorus, iron, potassium, carotene and others. It has an excellent nutritional value, which is due to the fact that even during a heat treatment, the vitamins A and C in it are not destroyed.

It is best to eat spinach fresh, but you can also heat it. One of the best ways to store spinach is by freezing it in the freezer. But how do you freeze spinach properly?

For long-term freezing, choose spinach, which has a deep green color and no signs of spoilage. Wash the spinach well in cold water, cut the stems and remove the damaged leaves. You can leave the spinach leaves whole or cut them. Then blanch the spinach. This is done by immersing it in boiling water for about 2 minutes, but if the leaves are more tender it can only be for 90 seconds.

Then cool the spinach and dry it. Put the blanched spinach in bags and put them in the freezer. There it can last up to 8 months. When you take the frozen spinach out of the freezer, you should not defrost it, because it will turn into a slimy mixture. Spinach can be frozen not by blanching but by frying it. Fry it for 2-3 minutes, put it in airtight boxes, cool it and freeze it.
