Nothing completes the dinner like a perfect pastry, prepared with a lot of love and attention to detail. But when the host or hostess is not able to spend hours in the kitchen to cook complex pastries, they have to resort to the bag of tricks.
A caramel topping can add sophistication to even the simplest pastry. You can add a caramel topping when serving panna cotta, homemade ice cream, apple strudel and any other desserts.
The preparation of this topping is by no means anything too complex, it is simple and does not take much time. The already prepared caramel topping can be stored in a container with a lid in the refrigerator for about a year.
You only need 20 g of nuts, 1 cup of sugar, 2/3 cups of liquid cream, 3 tbsp. of butter and brown sugar for sprinkling. Put the sugar in a deep pot and heat it until it caramelizes. Add the crushed walnuts and mix well.
Remove it from the heat and add the butter and then gradually the cream. Stir well until a smooth mixture forms and place it into a bowl full of ice water to cool down and stop the cooking process.
