Grapes are primarily rich in vitamin C and potassium. Here's how to freeze grapes for a low-calorie, sweet treat on a hot day or simply to preserve your harvest to enjoy all year round.
1. Wash and dry your grapes thoroughly. Grapes are washed to remove any dirt or pesticide residue. Place the grapes in a colander in the kitchen sink and rinse them under running water. Let the excess water drain, then pat your grapes dry with a dry paper towel;
2. Spread the dried grapes onto baking paper. Use wax paper or parchment paper. Place the grapes in a single layer on a baking tray. Cover the tray with clear, household foil and place it in the freezer;
3. Store the tray of grapes in the freezer for three hours. This should be enough time for the grapes to freeze. Depending on the type of grape, the total time for the freezing process may take a little longer;
4. Remove the grapes from the baking tray and place them in a plastic freezer bag. Seal the bag tightly and label it with the date before placing them back in the freezer.
5. To ensure maximum freshness, store your grapes in the freezer for up to one year from the date on the label. Eat frozen grapes straight from the freezer, leaving them at room temperature, or incorporate them into a sweet grape dessert recipe.
