What is Chicken Tenderloin?

Most of us like chicken dishes. But have you ever wondered how much of a chicken you eat? Chicken tenderloin is one of the most confusing parts of the chicken, as it is often confused with chicken breast.

What is the difference between chicken breast and tenderloin

The size of the two is the first noticeable difference. Chicken breasts are almost twice the size of a tenderloin. This means that the marinating and cooking time of the tenderloin will be shorter.

Chicken tenderloin is a strip of muscle that is found under the chicken breast. As a result, chickens have two fillets. If you are not an experienced cook, you may not notice them as these parts are very small. Only after removing the bone separating the chicken breast is the tenderloin visible.

Chicken breast and tenderloin usually taste the same. It will be difficult to tell them apart, but there is still a small difference. Chicken tenderloin is more flavorful and slightly juicier, while chicken breast is tasteless and sometimes quite dry. Due to the high absorbency of the fillet, it reproduces the taste of any sauce or seasoning with which it is prepared.

Chicken tenderloin has a higher fat content and more calories than chicken breast despite its tenderness.

It has a high nutrient content. In addition to protein, zinc, vitamin B6, vitamin D and calcium are present in it, although slightly less than in chicken breast.

How to separate a fillet from a boneless chicken breast

Place the breast piece on a cutting board and flatten it. It would be helpful if you placed them flat side down. First, you'll notice the fillet when it's nice and flat. It is attached mainly to the breasts by tendons. You should then place your hand firmly on the chicken breasts. The fillet will separate more easily if you cut open the breasts.

With this part of the chicken you can prepare:

- chicken fillets;

- breaded chicken nuggets;

- salads with chicken;

- chicken soup.
