How to Make a Chocolate Ribbon for a Cake?

To make a chocolate cake ribbon, first, you need to cut acetate foil strips of different lengths and widths, it depends on what size ribbon you would like to make.

The best option: the width of the large strips is about 3 cm, and the small ones are 1.5 cm. As for the length, 15 - 20 cm is best.

If you don't have acetate foil, you can use plastic folders from the bookstore, which are easy to bend, or parchment paper.

As for the number of ribbons, it depends on the size of the decoration. Therefore, consider the size of the cake you are going to decorate. Usually 11-20 pieces are made + spare 2-3 pieces.

After the strips are ready, you need to melt about 150-200 g chocolate in a water bath.

You can take any chocolate: dark, milk or white, you can also mix different colors. If you use white chocolate, then you can add confectionery paints to it.

Then, using a brush or spatula (whatever you like), evenly coat the strip with the chocolate and immediately lift it up to get the smooth edges. Leave for 1-2 minutes until the chocolate hardens slightly. Fold the strip to form a loop, stick the ends together and secure with a clip. The chocolate should be the inner layer and the foil the outer layer.

Do this with all the strips and leave them to harden.

Carefully remove the foil, grease the place where the ribbon will be with about 1 tbsp. of melted chocolate and begin assembling.

Arrange the first layer of 6-8 loops in a circle, again spread the center with the melted chocolate and attach the remaining loops, dipping them in the melted chocolate.

The chocolate cake ribbon is ready, just let it harden.
