Since we're in pumpkin season, that's a pretty good question. In winter, pumpkin is present on our table in the form of many recipes.
Some of the most popular ones are tikvenik, roasted pumpkin, stuffed pumpkin, all kinds of pumpkin cakes and pumpkin cream, it is not only used in desserts, it can also be used to make wonderful pumpkin cream soups.
However, most recipes start with cleaning the pumpkin and now I'm going to share my way of doing it.
Start by washing the pumpkin well and since mine are from my grandmother's garden there is quite a bit of soil left on them. Then remove the lid and bottom of the pumpkin. Depending on the size, you may want to cut it into smaller pieces to make it easier to peel.
If using the pumpkin for roasting with the skin, after removing both ends, cut it in half and use a spoon to remove the inside along with the seeds. You can spread them on a newspaper to dry and plant them for next year.
So, after you have cleaned it, cut it into the desired size pieces to roast according to your favorite recipe. If you are going to make stuffed pumpkin, remove a little from the bottom, just enough for it to stand up easily and use a spoon to carve it out carefully.
So let's go back to the situation where you have to peel the pumpkin, like when stewing/boiling it. There are two ways to peel it - using a sharp knife or a peeler.
