Do you like lettuce salad? And do you use its leaves in sandwiches or for decoration? No matter what you use lettuce for, you should know, that it is good to have a fresh look and taste. For this purpose it needs to be thoroughly cleaned and washed. How do you clean lettuce?
First, lettuce should be soaked for at least an hour in cold water with lemon or vinegar to wash away the nitrates it contains. The leaves with spots or those that have started to turn yellow should be removed and the core should be cut off. Only then you can soak the lettuce.
Separate all the leaves from each other and place them in a deep bowl (or other container) with cold water. When you take the leaves out of the water after a few hours, you will realize that in addition to nitrates, you have got rid of the mud, bugs and other impurities, which are invariably present in lettuce. Next, wash the salad under running water leaf by leaf to precisely clean the lettuce.
There is another method for cleaning lettuce: Sworn fans of this vegetable certainly have a centrifuge for salad, in which lettuce leaves are washed and dried. If you often consume lettuce and decide to invest in a centrifuge, be sure to soak the vegetables for at least an hour.
