When we buy cauliflower, it is already usually cleaned from its leaves. That makes it easily accessible to all kinds of dirt. Here's how to clean cauliflower, so that it doesn't have a bad effect on health?
You need a knife, a cutting board, a plastic bag and salt.
You have to choose quality cauliflower at the market. It is white and with fresh green leaves around its stem. Avoid yellow and darkened vegetables, which means that they have been on someone's stall for a long time.
Let's start cleaning the cauliflower. If there are still green leaves on the cauliflower head, remove them first. Then cut the thick main stem. Carefully break the cauliflower into pieces.
Some may be rotten or blackened - with a knife cut out the rotten parts. Beware of small snails - they often hide among the cauliflower head and are an unpleasant sight.
Put the healthy looking and edible cauliflower pieces in a plastic bag, in which you need to add two or three tablespoons of salt. Add water, tie the end of the bag and start shaking it vigorously.
The large particles of salt play the role of "sandpaper" and clean the cauliflower pieces. When they are cleaned, they are poured into a colander and rinsed thoroughly with water. The vegetables are ready for blanching, cooking or freezing.
