Ingredients

  • margarine - 3 packets, 9 oz (250 g)
  • flour - 4 1/5 cups (1000 g)
  • eggs - 3
  • sugar - 1 1/2 cups
  • walnuts - 2 cups, ground
  • vanilla - 2
  • essence - rum
  • milk - 1 cup (250 g)

How to make

Mix together the milk, margarine and flour and prepare a soft dough. Leave it for 20-30 minutes in the fridge. Mix the egg whites with 6 tablespoons sugar. Add the walnuts and remaining sugar.

Add the vanilla essence and then divide the filling into 12 equal parts. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and divide it into 4 equal parts.

Roll out each part into an 8″ (20 cm) by 11 3/4″ (30 cm) sheet, then divide each of those into 3 equal parts. Insert filling in each piece and roll it up into a roll, press to tighten the filling and dough and cut it into different shapes.

Put all of the baklavas in a baking dish and place it in the oven at 480°F (250 °C).
