"Something tasty and aromatic that practically melts in your mouth. In other words - a Strata."

Ingredients

  • old bread - 7 slices
  • ham - 3.5 oz (100 g) dry
  • chorizo - 3.5 oz (100 g)
  • parmesan - 3.5 oz (100 g) cut into small cubes
  • olives - about 5 - 6 without the pits
  • eggs - 6
  • basil - a few pinches fresh
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • milk - 4/5 cup (200 ml)
  • sour cream - 2/5 cup (100 ml)
  • black pepper - 1 - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • olive oil - 4 - 5 tbsp

How to make

Preheat the oven to 360°F (180°C).

Prepare a cake form about 9 1/2″ (24 cm) in diameter with a ring.

In a bowl mix together the milk, sour cream, pre-beaten together eggs, olive oil and the spices.

In a bowl, cut the old bread, chorizo, ham, parmesan and olives into small bites. Set aside some of the parmesan and chorizo for sprinkling on at the end.

Pour the liquid ingredients over the mixture and leave for about 30 min. to absorb well.

Place an oiled form with a ring in a tray covered with baking paper and pour all of the mixture in it, cover with the set aside parmesan and chorizo.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 390°F (200°C) for about 30 min. Remove the foil and bake another 10-15 min. to a nice crisp.

Take the Strata out of the oven, leave in the form for 15-20 min. and then remove the ring.
