Ingredients

  • lamb - about 4.5 lb (2 kg) from the hind quarter
  • black pepper
  • paprika - 1 tbsp, smoked
  • mixed spices - 1 tsp
  • lovage - 1 tsp
  • marjoram - 1 tsp
  • olive oil - 2 tbsp (30 ml)
  • honey - 1 tbsp
  • garlic - 1 clove
  • potatoes - 17.5 oz (500 g)
  • beer - 1 1/3 cups (330 ml)
  • vegetable broth - 2/3 cup (150 ml)

How to make

Mix all the spices, olive oil, honey and finely chopped garlic clove together in a bowl. Stir and add the beer.

Put the lamb meat in a large oven dish, pour on the mixture and rub the meat with it well. Cover the oven dish tightly with aluminum foil and put it in a preheated 320°F (160 °C) oven for 2 hours.

Clean and chop the potatoes into crescents. After the 2 hours, take the oven dish out, remove the foil and add the potatoes.

If a lot of the liquid has boiled off, add vegetable broth, season with a little black pepper and salt if needed and return to the oven at 360°F (180 °C) for 30 min.

Serve with a lettuce salad and cold beer.
