How to make
First, sift the flour 3 times. Heat the milk on the stove, set aside half of it. Put 3 tbsp flour in the other half, stir and add the crumbled yeast and sugar, stir again, cover with a towel and leave it to rise.
In the meantime, make a well in the flour and add the rest of the ingredients, as well as the risen yeast at the end. Knead a smooth and soft dough, leave it to rise for 30 min.
Divide up the dough into 3 parts and set aside a small ball for the heart decorations. Roll out each ball, smear with butter and put some filling into each. Do this for all of the sheets, don't smear the last one with butter. On the last one, place a cup in the middle and cut out 8 equal parts.
Cut these parts down the middle but not all the way through - leave about 2 fingers. Stick the ends through these incisions and fold underneath.
Repeat this process for the other 7 parts. Cut out the hearts and leaves from the last ball of dough and place them in the middle. Put it in a warm area to rise again for 30 min.
Smear the risen pita with a beaten egg and bake in a preheated 370°F (190 °C) oven until ready.
