How to make

Beat the eggs and sugar, add the milk, oil, vanilla, baking powder and flour gradually. Prepare a cake dough, then bake it.

Cut it into two or three, depending on how thick you want your cake layers. You can separate the mixture in advance and the bake the cake layers separately.

After the cake layers cool, begin to assemble the cake. Soak each layer with sugar syrup, smear it with pre-whipped cream, sprinkle with raisins and walnuts and then put the next layer on top. Repeat this procedure and finally smooth it out with cream, sprinkle with coconut flakes.

Using a pastry bag, make a border all around the cake and split it into two parts, one will be the land (ground walnuts) and the other - the sea (cream starch, colored with blue food dye). Prepare the octopus using a suitable container (I used a small cup). Add gelatin, dissolved and prepared according to package directions, to the cream starch.

The rock behind the octopus is made of crushed biscuits mixed with butter with a little added sugar and instant coffee. Shape the figures from the icing and use food coloring.

I used templates from a bookstore for the figurines and I got the idea for making them from Vancheto’s blog.
