  • cabbages - 4 oz (120 g)
  • butter
  • bacon - 4 oz (120 g), smoked
  • leeks - 6 oz (175 g)
  • turnips - 1
  • chicken broth - 4 1/2 cups (1.1 L)
  • potatoes - 8 oz (225 g)
  • bread - 6 slices
  • black pepper

How to make

Blanch the chopped cabbage in boiling water for 3 min. Drain and leave it aside. Heat the butter, add the chopped bacon and braise it.

Put all of the cleaned and chopped vegetables (excluding the cabbage and potatoes) with the bacon and saute for a few min. Then pour in the cabbage and broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, cover with a lid and boil on low heat about 90 min.

During the final 20 min. add the chopped potatoes and if necessary, pour in more water. Put some bread at the bottom of each bowl. Season the soup with salt and black pepper and pour it onto the bread. Serve right away.
