  • hake fillet - 2.2 lb (1 kg)
  • tomatoes - 1 tin, peeled
  • onion - 2 large onions
  • garlic - 2 - 3 cloves
  • brown sugar - a pinch
  • basil - 1 stalk
  • sea salt - (large) pinch
  • olive oil - to taste
  • black pepper - freshly ground

How to make

Baked hake fillets with tomato sauce, which will become your favorite!

Finely chop the onion and press the garlic. Chop the peeled tomatoes. Finely chop the basil.

Pat the hake fillets dry with paper towels. Sprinkle them with coarse sea salt and freshly ground black pepper and set them aside.

Heat the oven to 360°F (180°C).

The onion is fried in the heated oil until golden, the garlic is added and when it starts to release its flavor, the chopped peeled tomato, salt, sugar and basil are added.

With occasional stirring, let it simmer, until the desired thickness of the sauce is obtained.

Arrange the fish in a baking pan lined with a baking paper, cover it with the sauce and bake the hake for about 25 minutes in a preheated oven.
