Ingredients

  • herring - 2 pcs. lightly salted
  • onion - 7 oz (200 g) red
  • bay leaf - 2 pcs.
  • water - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml) cold boiled
  • vegetable oil - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml)
  • vinegar - 2 tbsp. (6%)
  • sugar - 1 tsp.
  • allspice - 5 grains
  • black pepper - ground

How to make

Wash, dry, clean and fillet the two herrings. Cut them into 1-2 cm thick pieces.

Cut the onion into crescents and break the bay leaves.

To prepare the marinade, mix the water, fat, vinegar, sugar and black pepper.

Start arranging in a jar a layer of herring, a layer of onion and a bay leaf, and so on. Pour the marinade on top and refrigerate for 6-10 hours to marinate the fish.

If the fish is completely covered with the marinade, you can store it for 10 days.

The pickled herring is ready.
