Ingredients

  • For the dough
  • flour - 1.1 - 1.3 lb (500 - 600 g)
  • eggs - 2 pcs.
  • dry yeast - 0.35 oz (10 g)
  • milk - 1 cup (250 ml)
  • confectionery cream - 2/5 cup (100 ml)
  • saffron - 1/2 tsp. for color
  • butter - 7 oz (200 g)
  • For the stuffing
  • walnuts - 12 oz (350 g) crushed
  • semolina - 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 1/2 cup
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp.
  • For the syrup
  • sugar - 2 cups
  • lemon juice - 1 tbsp.
  • cloves - 3 - 4 cloves

How to make

Knead the dough without the butter from the specified products. It is left to rise for 50 minutes. Tear it into balls about the size of an apple.

Mix the filling separately, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Each ball is rolled out into a thin sheet and so that it isn't sticky, starch is used. Spread generously with melted butter. It is sprinkled with the filling.

It is rolled on a rolling pin. It is gathered from both ends towards the middle and the rolling pin is removed. The resulting shaped baklava is placed in a greased baking pan.

All the balls of dough are prepared the same way. Spread them generously with butter. Bake for 30 minutes at 360°F (180°C). When it's ready, the baklava is poured with the hot sugar syrup.
