How to make
First the syrup is prepared. Boil the water, sugar and vanilla in a saucepan. Leave the mixture to cool. The walnuts and biscuits are mixed.
One filo pastry sheet is taken, it is drizzled with oil, a spoonful of the filling is placed in it, it is rolled into a roll around a thin rolling pin or a stick, the two ends of the resulting roll are gathered towards the middle and the roll is removed from the stick. It is then twisted into a spiral, by leaving a small space in the middle where another pinch of the filling is placed.
The resulting spirals are arranged tightly in a baking pan, they are drizzled with oil and baked at 360°F (180°C) for about 30-40 minutes.
While still hot, pour the syrup over the baklava and leave it to absorb the syrup for at least one night.
