How to make
Finely chop the onion and garlic. They are stewed with a little fat. Add the carrot, which is cut into small cubes. After the vegetables soften, add the minced meat.
They are stewed together, until the minced meat turns white. Then add the tomatoes. Season the sauce with salt, black pepper and basil. Boil, until the liquid from the tomatoes evaporates.
Béchamel is prepared by melting the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. After that, add the flour spoon by spoon, while continuously stirring.
Then the milk is added in a thin stream, while stirring at all times. Boil, until the sauce thickens. Finally, a pinch of salt and a pinch of nutmeg are added.
At the bottom of the baking pan in which we will bake the cannelloni, pour some of the white sauce. Using a small spoon, fill the cannelloni with the minced meat and tomato sauce. Arrange them tightly in the baking pan.
Pour the rest of the béchamel on top. Sprinkle again with basil and black pepper. Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil. The dish is baked for about 40 minutes at 390°F (200°C). Remove the foil and sprinkle with grated yellow cheese.
The baking pan is placed back into the oven and the dish is baked, until the cheese melts.
The cannelloni with minced meat and béchamel sauce are ready.
