"Give us these empty jars here, we have some big plans for them, which include red oranges"

Ingredients

  • red oranges - 2.2 lb (1 kg)
  • sugar - 1.5 lb (700 g)
  • lemon juice - from 1/2 large lemon
measures

How to make

All oranges are washed with a brush under running water. It would be good if they are organic oranges. If they are not very fresh, they are placed in the refrigerator compartment for 1 hour, then they are very easy to process.

From the total amount of oranges, 2 pcs. are set aside. The remaining oranges are peeled and their white skin is removed, which can be done if they're cold with the vegetable peeler.

Cut them into large cubes.

The oranges, which were set aside are peeled, the flesh is cut into cubes and the peels, after the white part is separated, are cut into small cubes. This is easily done with a long and narrow sharp knife.

Put all of the fruit and lemon juice, with and without the peel, in a pot along with the sugar over medium heat. With periodic stirring, boil the jam for 45 minutes.

The time is timed clockwise after the jam has boiled. Remove it from the heat and puree it with a blender. Place it back again, only to simmer and constantly stir it.

Pour the hot jam into dry and hot jars and turn them, so that their lids sink.

It has a long shelf life, more than 2 years with proper storage in a cool and ventilated place.

When preparing the red orange jam, no water is added and it is boiled for exactly 45 minutes. After it has been poured into jars, the jam thickens a lot.

The addition of orange peels is mandatory, no bitterness can be tasted, only the magnificent aroma and taste of fresh orange remains.
