Ingredients

  • chickpeas - 1.1 lb (500 g)
  • baking soda - 1 tsp.
  • onion - 1 medium - sized onion
  • carrots - 1 large carrot
  • red peppers - 1 pc.
  • celery - 4 - 5 stalks (leaves) (optional)
  • tomato paste - 1 tsp.
  • pepper paste - 1 tsp.
  • tomatoes - 1/2 cup ground (bottled sauce)
  • olive oil - 1 tbsp.
  • broth - or enough water to cover the chickpeas
  • salt
  • cumin
  • paprika
  • hot paprika

How to make

It is cooked very easily in pressure cooker.

The chickpeas are soaked in water and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in the evening.

Finely chop the onion and stew it in olive oil. Once it becomes transparent, add the spices without the salt and smoked paprika to release the aroma for about half a minute. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste and if you use pepper paste, stew well. If you use pepper paste, then raw ones are not added to the stew.

Then add the sliced carrots, peppers and well-washed chickpeas. Pour enough broth to cover the chickpeas, add chopped celery, hot and smoked paprika and close the pressure cooker. Boil for 20 minutes after the signal of the pressure cooker goes off.
