"If you`ve ever tried these Greek sweets, youve probably liked them - they just melt in your mouth"

Ingredients

  • almonds - 3.5 oz (100 g) peeled, raw
  • flour - 6.7 oz (190 g)
  • butter - 1.8 oz (50 g)
  • olive oil - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml)
  • egg whites - 1.8 oz (50 g)
  • brandy - 2 caps (20 ml)
  • orange water - 1 tsp. (from orange blossoms)
  • powdered sugar - about 5.3 oz (150 g) (2.1 oz /60 g/ for the dough and the rest for rolling)
measures

How to make

Bake the almonds in a low heated oven, until they're very lightly browned. Leave them to cool and put them in a blender to grind into small pieces.

Beat the egg white, until it liquefies and add it to the flour, along with olive oil, soft butter, sugar, brandy, orange water and grinded almonds.

Knead a smooth dough, by adding more flour if the consistency is not thick enough. The dough is not sticky, because it is greasy and this makes shaping the sweets very easy.

Shape balls of the same size, arrange them in a tray lined with baking paper and put them in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C).

Bake them, until they aquire a light golden brown color, for about 20 minutes, depending on the size of the balls.

While they're warm, roll them in powdered sugar.

The Greek Almond Sweets are ready.
