How to make
First prepare the dough. To do this, pour the flour and salt into a medium-sized bowl. In a separate bowl, pour the oil and water. Stir and add them to the flour, knead the dough, but do not knead for too long.
Divide the dough into two equal balls. Wrap one piece with wax paper and roll out the other between two floured sheets of paper into a very thin crust. A crust with a diameter of 12″ (30 cm) should be obtained. Place the second ball of dough in the refrigerator.
Grease a pie tin with a diameter of 9″ (22 cm) with a little oil. Place the crust it in, by pressing down the edges well.
Make the filling by mixing the lemon peel with the cinnamon, maple syrup and starch. Add the peeled and thinly sliced apples. Stir gently.
Spread the filling on the crust, by pouring a larger amount in the middle.
Roll out the second ball of dough and place it on the pie and carefully cut the edges.
Spread the apple pie with a little water and sprinkle it with almonds or sugar. It is best to make a few slits on the top crust or cut a circle in the middle to release steam during baking. Cover it with foil.
Preheat the oven to 390°F (200°C) and bake the pie for about 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake it for another 15 minutes.
The apple pie with maple syrup is ready.
