  • water - 1/4 cup
  • sugar - 1 cup

  • apples - 5 - 6 pcs.
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp.

  • eggs - 1 pc.
  • sugar - 1 tbsp.

How to make

Filling: Wash, peel, clean and cut the apples into thin slices (crescents) or as you like. Pour them into a bowl, add the cinnamon and stir.

Dough: Mix and stir the eggs, sugar, grated lemon peel and melted butter.

Add the flour gradually and knead a soft dough. If necessary, add more flour, so that the dough does not stick. Separate 1/3 of the dough for the top of the pie.

Roll out the rest and place it in a floured baking pan, so that it covers the bottom and sides of it.

I used a baking pan with a removable bottom.

Sauce: Melt the butter, add the flour and stir for about a minute. Add water and sugar. Reduce the heat and stir for about 3 minutes, until it has thickened and aquired a slightly caramel color.

Add the sauce to the apples and stir. Add the mixture (sauce and apples) in the baking pan.

For the pastry grid: Roll out the piece of dough, that you set aside and cut it into 10 strips.

The longest strip is placed horizontally in the middle and on both of its sides add two more strips (5 in total). Move the second and fourth (for example, right-left) and place another strip, vertically in the middle. Then place them back.

Move the first, third and fifth and place the strip vertically. Then place them back into place.

Then move the second and fourth again and place the smallest vertical strip. Then place it back. This is also what you have to do with the other side of the grid.

If there is leftover dough from the strips, you can add it to the side of the pie or make a decoration. Use your fingers to pinch the strips and dough on the sides.

For spreading: Mix the egg and sugar and spread the pie.

Bake the apple pie in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C) for 45 minutes or until the desired color is obtained.

The delicious apple pie is ready.
