Soft, moist and packed with apples - this easy apple pie with caramel topping is the ultimate comfort dessert.
Ingredients
apples - 1 kg (2.2 lb)
eggs - 3
brown sugar - 50 g (1.8 oz)
butter (melted) - 40 g (1.4 oz) + extra for greasing
The apples are peeled, halved, cored and sliced into thin pieces.
The eggs are beaten with the brown sugar until well combined. The melted butter is added, followed by the flour mixed with baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt. The caramel topping is incorporated, and finally the milk is added, mixing until smooth.
The sliced apples are folded into the batter and stirred well to coat evenly.
A 26 cm (10-inch) springform pan is greased with butter. The mixture is poured into the pan and a little extra caramel topping is drizzled over the surface.
The apple pie is baked in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 1 hour.
Once removed from the oven, it is drizzled again with a little caramel while still warm. It is allowed to cool completely before slicing.
The moist and very easy apple pie is ready to serve.
This apple pie is lighter than classic American double-crust pies, yet rich in flavor thanks to the caramel topping and brown sugar.
Perfect for fall baking, Sunday family dinners or holiday gatherings, this recipe requires minimal effort and delivers maximum comfort. Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream in the US style, or with custard or cream for a classic British touch.
