Ingredients

  • mackerel - 2 pcs.
  • onion - 1 large onion
  • apples - 2 pcs. (sour)
  • mustard - 1 tbsp.
  • lemon juice - 1 tbsp.
  • olive oil - 3 tbsp. + (1 for drizzling the fish)
  • spices - by taste
  • sea salt - by taste
  • black pepper - freshly ground

How to make

Peel the onions and apples and cut them into cubes. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Wash, clean and rinse the mackerel well and dry it with kitchen paper inside and out.

Add salt and black pepper, pour olive oil and bake it in preheated oven for about 20 minutes.

Heat some olive oil in a pan and fry the onion, until it starts to caramelize.

Add the apples, the remaining olive oil and leave them to simmer for about 4-5 minutes, while stirring or shaking the pan.

Remove it from the heat, stir the mustard, sprinkle with spices, salt, black pepper and drizzle with lemon juice.

Separate the baked fish fillets, peel the skin, clean the bones and add the garnish of stewed apples with onions.

Serve it with lemon slices.
