How to make
Sift the flour into a bowl and cut the cold butter into small pieces. Rub it with your fingers until a crumbly mixture is obtained.
Pour the wine, lemon juice and anise liqueur one after the other (you can use mastic or ouzo) and add the baking powder.
Knead a soft dough, which you then need to roll out onto a floured surface into about 0.5 mm thick crust.
Cut the biscuits with Christmas cutters of your choice and arrange them at a distance in a tray covered with baking paper.
Put them in a preheated oven at 390°F (200 degrees) for 18-20 minutes, or until they're slightly browned on top.
Allow the biscuits to cool completely and roll them in the powdered sugar.
Note: In this recipe, the dough itself does not contain sugar, but the coating of powdered sugar adds enough sweetness and an interesting contrast. For me, these Christmas biscuits are perfect and do not need more sweetness, but if you want, add a little sugar to the dough.
Merry Christmas!
