Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Beat the yolks well with the powdered sugar, then gradually add the butter, milk and sifted flour with the baking powder and vanilla.
Put the mixture into a greased and sprinkled with flour tray. Bake until pink. Remove the pie from the oven and arrange sliced pears on top of it.
Spread the previously beaten 4 tablespoons of sugar and egg whites on the pears. Put this back in the oven again and let the egg whites dry up to become a meringue.
