"We`ve decided to start living healthy, so starting today we`re oven-baking our pirozhki - no fat, plus they`re tastier that way."

Ingredients

  • milk - 2 cups (500 ml)
  • eggs - 2 + some more to spread
  • oil - 1/2 cup (125 g)
  • sugar - 2/5 cup (100 g)
  • salt - 2 1/3 tsp (12 g)
  • flour - 2 lb (1 kg)
  • yeast - 2 4/5 tsp (14 g) dry

How to make

Dissolve the yeast in some of the lukewarm milk with a little sugar. Leave it to swell and add it to the sifted flour. Add the remaining sugar, salt, eggs and oil gradually. Mix a smooth dough and leave it in a covered container in a warm place for about 2 hours to rise.

Shape the dough into elongated buns, put a stuffing of your choice on them and coat them with beaten eggs. Arrange them in a greased tray and bake in a preheated 410°F (210 °C) oven until ready.
