How to make
Cut off the top bits of the apples and carve out their inside with a spoon. Save the carved out part to add it in the filling later.
Arrange the fruit in a tray on a sheet of baking paper. Slice the almonds and roast them in a non greased pan. Add the raisins to the pan, along with the nuts. Caramelize them with brown sugar and 2 tbsp. water.
Season the mixture with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Finely chop the inside of the apples, that you carved out. Add it to the pan on the stove and stir the mixture.
Pour in the whiskey and let the mixture boil until the strong aroma of the alcohol evaporates. Remove the mixture from the heat and fill the apples with it.
Bake the stuffed apples in a preheated oven at 390°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes.
