How to make
Beat the butter with the powdered sugar, add the eggs one at a time, and then add the milk. Sift the flour with the baking soda and baking powder and add it to the butter cream. Stir very well and pour the mixture into a greased and floured tray. Bake in a moderate oven.
Flip the baked layer upside down on the table and once completely cooled, cut it into 2 separate layers. Boil a sugar syrup from 4/5 cup (200 ml) of water and the granulated sugar and flavour it with vanilla or a spoon of rum. Beat the jam with the lemon rind and a spoon of water. Syrup the first layer, smear it with jam and optionally, with a little whipped cream.
Place the second layer, syrup it and spread it with cream. You can cut it into small cakes, or serve it sliced like a cake.
