"A tasty honey cake - a somewhat forgotten recipe in recent years. Delightful and very tempting."

Ingredients

  • for the layers
  • eggs - 3 - 4
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • butter - 2 tbsp
  • honey - 4 - 5 tbsp
  • flour
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • for the cream
  • milk - 3 cups (700 ml)

  • butter - 1 cup (250 g)
  • flour - 3 tablespoons
  • vanilla - 2 packets
  • for sprinkling
  • walnuts - 2/5 cup (100 g), ground

How to make

Mix together the required ingredients for the layers: eggs, sugar, butter and honey in a water bath until the sugar is dissolved. Then beat the mixture with a mixer and let it to cool down if hot. Add the baking soda and enough flour to make a soft dough.

Cover it and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Make 7-8 dough balls and roll out each one into a thin sheet. Use a tray or large plate to make the same sized layer circles. Bake each sheet in a pre-heated oven in a floured tray. If you have not made the layers the same size, you can do so after baking them, using the tray to help you.

Clippings from the layers can be used for decoration. For the cream, beat the eggs with the sugar and honey, gradually pour in the milk and while stirring continuously, add the flour. Put this on the stove and stir until it boils and thickens. Remove from the heat and stir until cool.

Add the butter and continue stirring, until melted. In a suitable container, start to stack the layers, cream and top the entire cake with cream. Sprinkle with the clippings from the layers that you've mixed with crushed walnuts.

Put the honey cake in the fridge for 1 night before serving.
