There is hardly any other drink that can be used as an effective remedy and at the same time drunk simply for pleasure. A few things to know about proper tea storage:
- Place the plant in closeable and absolutely dry containers. Boxes made of wood, special sheet metal and porcelain are suitable, as well as multi-layered, light-proof bags. All containers in which you store the tea should be used only for it, so that you do not disturb the aroma of the plant.
- Store in a cool and dark place, away from light, sun and heat.
- Tea is best stored in small quantities, making sure not to allow moisture or steam to penetrate when opening the box.
- Well-stored tea can maintain its quality for up to five years. And green tea loses its aroma more slowly than black tea.
With careful drying, the active ingredients hardly change. This is a natural preservation process.
Tea is the most common drink in the world. In many countries drinking tea belongs to the culture of the nation. In Zen Buddhism, it is an indispensable part of the religious ceremony. And especially in England and the countries of the British Commonwealth, drinking tea is an almost sacred long-standing tradition. However, people still know too little about tea and the extremely interesting tea plant.
An interesting fact is that the stimulating effect of tea is due to the alkaloid caffeine, which is related to tannins (flavanols). Since caffeine dissolves well in hot water, almost all of the amount contained in the plant is released into the tea within the first 1-2 minutes after its preparation.
Therefore, when you let the tea steep for just a minute or two, you get a highly caffeinated drink that is absorbed very quickly by the body. Caffeine has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system and brain functions.
