Green tea and weight loss has been a topic that has been gaining momentum in weight loss methods for years. Teas came in many years ago as an antioxidant-rich beverage.
Nowadays green tea is increasingly used in diets or weight loss regimes. Whether the effect is really that good, scientists are still hesitant about it.
How green tea helps you lose weight
Green tea is made from tea leaves by drying them, not by fermentation. The fermentation process that makes black tea does not preserve the ingredients that serve as antioxidants.
The positive effects of green tea are many. It contains antioxidants that fight cancer, heart disease and other health problems. Because of these powerful ingredients, many studies have been done on green tea to see if it helps with weight loss.
Green tea weight loss research results
Many different studies have been done on green tea and weight loss. Research findings are mixed. Many of them have been inconclusive and have shown a low impact of green tea on the human body regarding weight loss.
A study related to the influence of green tea on the human body shows interesting results. Scientists investigated whether green tea in combination with caffeine reduced or destroyed weight regain in obese people who had lost about 5 to 10% of it.
The results are inconclusive. No real difference was found between the group of people who used green tea and the people who did not. Even some participants in the green tea group in the experiment showed weight gain attributed to the caffeine.
Another study shows different results. Two groups of people were used. One group used black Chinese tea and the other group used green tea. Those who have consumed green tea show many positive results, such as:
• Reduced weight;
• Reduced body fat;
• Reduced cholesterol levels.
This research recommends consuming at least four cups of green tea per day.
According to a leading clinic in America, green tea is not recommended for any type of people, especially for those who are allergic to caffeine and tannin.
Dosage of green tea for weight loss
Green tea refers to herbal medicines. However, experts recommend taking it only as an extract or tea.
About 5 or 6 cups of green tea per day can be taken. If any caffeine side effects occur, for example, its consumption should be reduced or completely stopped.
Although the connection of green tea with weight loss in humans has not been proven, it has many other useful ingredients that have a positive effect on the body.
