Winter and early spring are not an ideal time to eat tomatoes, because even with good intentions and more money, there are simply no quality products on the market - it's the type of season where the best you will get is decent-looking greenhouse tomatoes for your money. That's why canned peeled tomatoes are a good alternative if you desire a fresh and healthy salad.
But the following question immediately arises - how are tomatoes easily peeled at home?
Don't think that it will take too long or that it is too complicated to do. On the contrary, peeling tomatoes, for example for Caprese salad or for a delicious cold tomato soup is quick and easy.
The only thing is that you will have to arm yourself with is a knife and a little patience - at least until the water on the stove boils.
Pour water into a small saucepan and heat it on the stove. You have to wait for the water to boil "turnkey" and add the tomatoes for 1-2 minutes in it. Before placing the tomatoes in boiling water, make an X-shaped incision with a knife on the skin on the underside of each and every one of them.
Pour out the boiling water from the pot and pour the cold water over the tomatoes and you can also add ice to cool them down faster.
Using a sharp knife, cut the green part around the stem. Then again with the knife carefully peel the skin, while being careful not to damage the core of the tomato.
This whole process takes 1-2 minutes, it is extremely fast and pleasant, because after the heat treatment the skin separates very easily.
Here! Now you have ready peeled tomatoes for a delicious Caprese salad.
Cut the peeled tomatoes into circle slices, add a little Mozzarella cheese on each slice, sprinkle with fresh basil, salt and olive oil.
Voila!
