Octopus is not a food that is often present at many tables. There are 200 species of octopus. There are many small octopuses that are about 5 centimeters in size. There are also many large ones that can reach up to 3 meters in length.
According to some scientists, the octopus is one of the smartest invertebrates and has been shown to have a very good memory. Octopus meat is very delicate and tasty and is therefore eaten, wherever it can be found - especially in the Mediterranean. But how do you eat it properly?
However, in order to consume octopus, it must be prepared properly, which means that there are subtleties for its cooking. When an octopus is caught, it must be hit against rocks, so that its muscles can relax and its flesh can be more tender.
However, there is a less cruel way. Instead of hitting, the octopuses are put in the washing machine and a centrifuge is switched on. There are also special devices that are designed for this purpose.
There are recipes according to which in the water, in which the octopus is boiled, corks are added. This is done, because corks contain special enzymes, which soften the meat.
Octopus is boiled over low heat. If you are going to grill octopus, you must first cook it very well. It can also be stewed, fried or breaded.
Octopus is eaten with a fork and knife, but can also be eaten with your fingers, if you prefer to eat it that way.
