Fresh lovage, is washed, dried and it is left to drain from the water.
Each twig is arranged in a newspaper at a distance from each other along with the leaves and they're left to dry. They don't have to be in direct sunlight.
Depending on the humidity of the room in which you're drying the lovage, when it is completely dry, it is stored in a jar or box with a tight closure.
In most cases, for culinary purposes, only the leaves of dried lovage are removed - without the stem. The roots, leaves and fruit of the plant are used.
The leaves and seeds are very fragrant and are used as a spice in the preparation of dishes. The root contains essential oil.
Dried lovage is only ground when used in a dish to keep the aroma from drying out.
The roots can be used for tea after drying, blended in a chopper or shredded. 1 tablespoon of lovage (stems or leaves) is poured with 1 1/2 cups (300 ml) of boiling water.
150 ml of it is drunk twice a day (unsweetened) and it is extremely good for stomach acids, painful urination and kidney stones.
