In recent years, nut milk has become increasingly popular. Some people consume it as an alternative to milk, because it does not contain lactose and others - because of its beneficial properties.
If you suffer from lactose intolerance or want to try something different and healthy, you can prepare sunflower seed milk.
To do this, you need a blender, a cheesecloth and of course, a handful of peeled sunflower seeds.
Here is the exact sunflower seed milk recipe:
One cup of peeled raw sunflower seeds is soaked in water overnight (8-12 hours). The aim is to wash away harmful substances (so-called inhibitors) from the raw seeds.
In the morning, the sunflower seeds are strained, rinsed under running water and put in a blender. Add 3 cups of mineral, spring or boiled water, a pinch of salt and blend the mixture.
The resulting liquid is filtered through a cheesecloth and the healthy sunflower seed milk is ready for consumption.
If desired, it can be flavored with a packet of vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa or other aromatic ingredients.
Or you can make a shake by adding your favorite fruit (banana, peach, raspberries, strawberries) to the sunflower seed milk and blend again.
