"An old-school recipe for Pirozhki."

Ingredients

  • yeast - 0.5 oz (21 g) cube
  • yoghurt - 4/5 cup (200 g)
  • milk - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml), warm
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 2
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • oil - 1/3 cup (80 ml)
  • flour - for a smooth dough

How to make

Mix together the yeast, sugar, milk and 2-3 tbsp flour. Leave the mixture to rise.

Mix the eggs, yoghurt, vinegar and oil. Mix the salt with some flour. Add the effervescent yeast to the egg mixture. Gradually add the flour as well.

Knead a soft dough. Put it in the fridge for 1 hour.

Tear out balls from it, stretch them out, sprinkle with crumbled feta and wrap up into tight rolls.

Fry in preheated oil until golden. Take them out onto paper towels.
