How to make
The garlic is peeled and finely grated using a very fine grater or crushed with a garlic press. The finer the garlic is minced, the more evenly its flavor will spread throughout the sauce.
In a deep bowl the yogurt is added first. It is stirred briefly with a spoon or whisk until it becomes smooth and creamy. This helps remove any lumps and creates a better base for the sauce.
The mayonnaise is then added to the yogurt. Both ingredients are mixed carefully until a smooth and homogeneous mixture forms. This combination creates a creamy texture that balances the freshness of the yogurt with the richness of the mayonnaise.
Next, the grated garlic is added to the mixture. The sauce is seasoned with salt according to taste.
Fresh dill is washed, dried and finely chopped. It is then added to the sauce and mixed thoroughly so the herb distributes evenly and releases its aroma.
The finished mixture is placed in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes. This short resting time allows the flavors to combine and gives the garlic time to infuse the sauce more intensely.
The garlic sauce is served well chilled. It pairs perfectly with fries, roasted vegetables, grilled meat, sandwiches and a wide variety of appetizers.
