"Amazing little buns you can serve at parties, as well as right at home in front of the TV!"

Ingredients

  • for the dough
  • eggs - 1
  • flour - about 3 1/5 cups (750 g)
  • milk - 1 1/5 cups (300 ml), warm
  • yeast - enough to fill a matchbox
  • apple cider vinegar - 1 tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tbsp
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • for the stuffing
  • feta cheese - 5.5 oz (150 g)
  • butter - 2/5 cup (100 g), melted
  • eggs - 1 yolk for smearing

How to make

Pour the yeast, sugar and 3-4 tbsp flour in the milk. Stir well and leave it to activate. Once the yeast becomes effervescent, pour it into half the flour and add the rest of the products.

Stir and start to slowly add the rest of the flour. Begin to knead until you get a soft and stretchy dough. Leave it to rise, then divide it into 2 parts.

Roll out the first one to about 1/2 a finger width in a rectangular tray. Smear it with melted butter everywhere and sprinkle with the feta cheese. Wrap it into a roll and cut it into round slices, about 3 fingers thick.

Put each round slice in a muffin cup. Repeat the procedure for the 2nd part of the dough.

I ended up with about 18 of these round slices. Once you fill all of the muffin cups, leave them to rest for another 15 min. Smear them with egg yolk and put them in a cool oven. Bake at 300°F (150 °C) until they puff up well. Then raise the temperature to 390°F (200°C) for them to get a nice crisp.
