Ingredients

  • potatoes - 4 pcs.
  • carrots - 2 pcs.
  • rice - 1/3 cup
  • minced meat mixture - 10.5 oz (300 g)
  • tomato puree - 1 1/2 cups
  • water - 4 cups (1 L)
  • onion - 1 onion
  • paprika - 1 tsp.
  • salt - 1/4 tsp.
  • nutmeg - 1 pinch
  • black pepper - 2 pinches
  • oil - 1 tsp.
  • For the topping
  • eggs - 3 pcs.
  • yogurt - 0.9 lb (400 g)
  • flour - 1 tbsp.
  • baking powder - 1 pinch
  • salt - 1 pinch

How to make

Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Pour them into a pot. Add the water and boil them on the stove. Add the finely chopped carrots and onions.

Immediately after that, add the minced meat and rice. Boil, until the potatoes have softened and add the tomato puree, paprika, nutmeg, black pepper and salt.

Continue cooking, until the liquid evaporates and thickens, while stirring occasionally.

Grease a deep tray with the oil and pour the mixture. Level it out.

Beat the eggs with the yogurt, salt and flour and cover the dish.

Bake the moussaka in an oven heated to 390°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes, until the topping aquires a golden brown color.
