How to cook
Beat the egg and egg white with the sugar and vanilla sugar, until a white mixture is obtained and add the milk, lemon juice and finely ground almonds. Continue beating briefly on low speed.
Sift the flour with the baking powder and add it to the mixture, by stirring carefully with a wooden spoon, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Prepare a baking pan with a diameter of 9.5″ (24 cm) and grease and flour its surface. Pour and level out the almond mixture.
Bake in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C) for 12 minutes, or until it is fully baked.
The cake can also be prepared in a pan, as it is in my case. To do this, cover the pan with baking paper and grease it. After pouring the mixture, cover it with a lid and bake for 5 minutes on moderate heat, then another 10 on low heat. Leave it to cool before removing it from the pan and sprinkle it with a generous amount of sliced almonds.
For our Christmas decoration, cut out Christmas tree shapes, bells or others in the middle or wherever you want. Prepare a dark caramel topping from sugar, butter and a few drops of water and pour it hot into the slits where we cut out the Christmas shapes.
Optionally decorate with Christmas ornaments.
