How to make
Wash and pit the cherries. Boil a syrup from the sugar and 2 cups (500 ml) of water.
Boil it for about 5 minutes. Remove it from the heat and add the cherries. Leave them overnight.
Then strain the syrup and boil it, until it thickens (it should reduce to 2/3 of its volume).
Return the cherries back into the syrup and boil for 5 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and leave it to cool completely.
Add a little red food coloring and mix. Boil again for 5 minutes and leave it to cool again.
Remove the fruit from the syrup and arrange them onto baking paper. Leave them to dry and store them in a box with a lid.
The homemade candied cherries are ready.
