How to make
Put the eggs and sugar in a bowl. Beat with a mixer into a fluffy cream.
Add the ricotta and pour the melted and slightly cooled butter.
Stir with a wooden spoon, until the mixture is homogenized.
Sift the flour with the baking powder and a pinch of salt. In small portions, add it to the liquid mixture.
Add the coarsely chopped walnuts. Flavor with the grated peel of an orange. DO NOT replace it with lemon peel!
Line a 8.7″ (22 cm) detachable cake tin with baking paper. Pour the cake mix in it and level it out.
Cut the apple into slices. Arrange it on top of the cake and place whole walnuts in the middle.
Bake the apple cake at 360°F (180°C) in a preheated oven with a fan for about 35 minutes.
Sprinkle the baked apple and walnut cake with powdered sugar!
