  • marsala wine - 2/5 cup (100 ml)
  • raisins - 2.6 oz (75 g)
  • walnuts - 2.6 oz (75 g) chopped
  • almonds - 2.6 oz (75 g) chopped
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp.
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp.
  • lemon juice - from 1 pc.
  • dark chocolate - 2.6 oz (75 g) chopped
  • honey - 1/2 cup
  • butter - 5.3 oz (150 g) melted
  • filo pastry sheets - 10 pcs.
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling
measures

How to make

Immerse figs in a pot of water to boil and leave them to swell for about 10-15 minutes. Strain and cut them into small pieces.

Add the wine, raisins, walnuts, almonds, juice of 1 lemon, cinnamon and chocolate to them.

The honey is heated in a pot on a heated hob and poured over the above mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon.

The butter is melted. One filo pastry sheet is spread out and well greased, a second one is spread out on it, which is also well greased and continue to do the same with 5 more filo pastry sheets.

Using a spoon, apply the filling evenly on the long side of the filo pastry sheet and roll it up.

The rolls are placed in a well greased baking pan or onto baking paper.

The strudel is baked at 360°F (180°C) for about 20-25 minutes.

Note: If there is some melted butter left, it's a good idea to grease the filo pastry sheets before baking.

The Christmas Italian Strudel is ready.
