How to make
Squeeze the oranges and strain the juice. Pour it in a pot over medium heat, add the sugar and starch. Stir vigorously, until a thick cream is obtained.
The mixture is poured into small suitable porcelain bowls and each one is rinsed with ice water in advance. This is done in order to make it easier to remove the Turkish delight.
Leave it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
After this time, the Turkish delight is removed and the cups are turned over.
The pieces of Orange Turkish Delight are rolled in coconut shavings.
When you look at the ingredients, everyone will think, that it is an extremely simple recipe to make, but to my great surprise it turned out to be an extremely difficult and complicated recipe.
At first it was extremely difficult for me with the translation, there were no English subtitles, but I managed to figure out how and what to add. I squeezed the oranges, strained them, put them on a moderate heat, added the sugar and starch, and began to stir.
A thick cream is obtained extremely quickly, but to my surprise it turned into huge lumps and I had to throw it away. I could blend it with a blender, but that was not my goal, I wanted to know how to make it, so I started again, by lowering the stove heat of the hob more. This time I made a perfect cream.
In the recipe shown, the finished cream is poured into small porcelain cups with a very rounded bottom, oval, although I did not have exactly those in the many at home, I found something suitable. I left them in the fridge for 2 hours, after that time they had hardened enough.
I tried to turn them over, so that the mixture would fall, but that didn't happen, it was impossible. So I took it out with a spoon and while the mixture was still cold, I shaped it into a tile, by lightly rolling it out with a rolling pin between two papers, which were about 1 cm thick. The mixture is very sticky and impossible to work with without paper. I cut with a round metal mold. I worked quickly, so that the Turkish delight tile doesn't soften, but if there is such a possibility of it warming up, put it back, but in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes and it will be easy to work with after.
The shaped circles, some are another shape, I rolled in coconut shavings.
I arranged them.
The result is an incredibly fragrant Orange Turkish Delight with a delicate, almost crystal light yellow color.
