"As plain as this songe cake is, its always a good idea to have it for breakfast or for an afternoon snack"

Ingredients

  • flour - 7 oz (200 g)
  • corn starch - 3.2 oz (90 g) (organic)
  • baking powder - 1 tbsp (15 g)
  • eggs - 3 pcs.
  • milk - 1/2 cup (120 ml)
  • oil - 2/5 cup (100 ml)
  • vanilla - 2 powders (4 g)
  • sugar - 6.7 oz (190 g)
  • walnuts - 3.5 oz (100 g)
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling
measures

How to make

Beat the eggs into a fluffy foam along with the sugar.

Add the milk and oil and stir until a smooth mixture is obtained.

Sift the flour with the starch, baking powder and vanilla into the liquid mixture. Carefully mix with a spatula until they are absorbed well. They can also be beaten with the mixer but at a slower speed.

At the end, add the chopped walnuts to the cake batter, spread them lightly throughout the mixture and pour everything into a greased and lightly floured bundt pan.

The sponge cake is baked for 40 minutes in a preheated oven at 360°F (180 degrees). Check it with a wooden stick, in order to see if it is ready and if necessary bake it for another 5 minutes.

Once it's ready, the vanilla sponge cake is left in the mold for 10 minutes and only then can be turned over onto a rack on which it can be left to cool completely.

Sprinkle it with powdered sugar, optionally mixed with another vanilla powder for an even stronger taste.

This sponge cake is simple, but very tasty and fragrant. It is suitable for breakfast or as a company for your cup of coffee, tea or milk.

The plain vanilla sponge cake with walnuts is ready.
