Ingredients

  • flour - 1 cup (230 g)
  • butter - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g)
  • milk - 2/3 cup (150 ml)
  • sugar - 2 tbsp (30 g)
  • baking soda - 1 pinch, or use baking powder

How to make

Knead a soft dough from the flour, which you've sifted with the baking soda and salt (a pinch), plus the butter and sugar. Stir until you get a uniform mixture, gradually adding the milk. Leave the resulting fluffy dough for about 30 minutes.

Knead again and roll out a sheet with a thickness of 1/2″ (1 cm). With a cup or a suitable cookie cutter, cut out circles with a diameter of about 2″ (5 cm). Arrange the dough slices in a buttered baking dish (or on baking paper) and bake in a preheated 430°F (220 °C) oven for about 10 minutes or until ready.

Serve them smeared with butter, jam or cream.
